⚠️ PRA is inherited in an Autosomal Recessive manner in dogs, meaning that they Must receive two copies of the mutated gene (one from each parent) to develop the disease. In general, carrier dogs do not have features of the disease but when bred with another carrier of the same Mutation, there is a risk of having affected pups.
A "CARRIER" ONLY has 1 Copy of a Gene and MANY of the Diseases like PRA Require 2 Copies to be "Activated", so to speak.
If a Dog that is a CARRIER (A dog that has 1 Copy of a Gene) for an Autosomal Recessive Disease (A Disease that Requires 2 Copies of a Gene for the dog to be Impacted) is bred to a Dog that is CLEAR there are NO CHANCES of puppies HAVING that Disease.
Therefore, ANY Puppy you get from us will NOT be Genetically Predisposed to HAVE or be IMPACTED BY ANY of the diseases their Parents are CLEAR of & we Warranty that!
*Some of our Adults are MDR1 POSITIVE.
*That being said, Please, feel free to check with us about Individual Adult Dog's Test Results, Review Our Contract & Ask Questions!
We do Not withhold or hide anything & are happy to Send/SHOW Results.
We, also, Post the Results Publicly on Every Seasonal Newsletters (via the Dropbox Links on our Excel Sheet).

What is a CARRIER of a RECESSIVE Disease?
Please Note:
"MDR1" is a Multi-Drug Resistant gene, this gene does NOT shorten the dogs life or impact its quality of life (if mcertain Medications are AVOIDED). Therefore there is no "Warranty" for it. The "MDR1" gene does not impact your dogs health, it just means that certain medicines/drugs must be avoided. There have been cases where even if a dog does Not possess that gene or is merely a recessive carrier of the gene the dog can be affected so it is best to always just treat the dog as though they have it even if they don't.
Please, also, Note:
ALL of Our adult dogs are Genetically Free of this disease & the puppies are Clear of HUU Genetically.
However, "HUU" (Canine Hyperuricosuria), aka Kidney Stones, can occur due to Other causes NOT Just genetics, like diet or stress & unless found to be Genetically Caused it is Not covered in the Genetic Warranty.
"Intestinal cobalamin malabsorption (Australian shepherd type)" (ICM/Vitamin B12 Deficiency) is a New Test that we have not Yet been able to test for. This disease is Not considered a Required test for the breed and IS considered an Add-On with many companies like Orivet, GenSol and others.
ICM//Vitamin B12 Deficiency is inherited in an Autosomal Recessive manner in dogs meaning that they Must receive two copies of the mutated gene (one from each parent) to develop the disease. In general, carrier dogs do not have features of the disease but when bred with another carrier of the same Mutation, there is a risk of having affected pups.
HOWEVER, All of L.L.A's Breeding dogs will be tested (in a Timely Manner) for ALL NEW TESTS Discovered & Added to the "Miniature Australian Shepherd Breed Profile".

Fun Fact:
— Dogs Complete our Families 🥰 — According to the American Board of Family Medicine, "Over two thirds of Americans live with pets and consider them important members of the family."
Studies suggest the family dog may have an influence on the general wellbeing of family members. In 2015, the American Board of Family Medicine published a review of the evidentiary health benefits of dog ownership. They presented evidence that dogs enhance feelings of happiness, security, and self-worth and even reduce feelings of loneliness & isolation on a daily basis.
Dogs, also, encourage social trust, civic engagement, neighborhood friendliness and an overall sense of community.
Studies even showed that elderly people who own pets have a diminished need for medical services as they age!

Frequently Asked Questions:
Does L.L.A take into account Allergies when Breeding?
YES! ☺️
Our lines and dogs do not have any food, seasonal or skin allergies (aside from Jackson who has Developed Seasonal Allergies with Age, but Jackson is actually getting retired for that reason).
In general, any dog or animal could:
— Have/develop Food or Seasonal Allergies
— React negatively to various things throughout their lives
that simply do not agree with their bodies regardless of Genetics
...BUT, @LuckyLittleAussies absolutely take allergies of all kinds & the severity into account when Breeding 🥰
